Luminance noise and colour noise are different

Luminance noise looks like random brightness variation or gritty speckle. Colour noise appears as red, green, blue or purple flecks, especially in shadow areas. Separating the two controls lets you clean coloured noise more aggressively without flattening every bit of useful brightness texture.

Preserve detail is the safety control

Raise Preserve detail when the image contains hair, skin texture, fabric weave, product labels or fine scanned text. Lower values smooth more strongly, but heavy smoothing can make portraits waxy and remove the texture that makes an image feel real.

Photo is a balanced start. Low-light pushes colour cleanup harder. Scanned image protects stronger page/text detail. Gentle cleanup is useful when you mostly like the image and only want the most obvious noise softened.

Denoise first, sharpen second

If a cleaned photo feels a little soft, use a small amount of sharpening afterwards. Sharpening first amplifies random noise and can make the cleanup step harder and less natural.

Is there a size limit?

There is no extra OutMonkey upload-size cap in the browser interface. Very high-resolution images can still hit your browser or device memory limit, especially when enlarging them or running local models.

If the file is huge

If an enormous image will not process, use a smaller copy or reduce its pixel dimensions first. Keep the original untouched.
