What happens to my file?
You shouldn’t have to wonder whether your passport photo, PDF or audio clip just disappeared into someone else’s server.
The short answer
Most OutMonkey tools keep your file on your device.
If a tool needs a server or hosted model, we tell you before processing starts. Saved monkey links contain the recipe only, and compatible tool-to-tool hand-offs stay inside the browser. No surprise upload halfway through the job.
Does my file leave my device?
Usually, no.
Where practical, OutMonkey does the work in your browser. The source file stays on your device and is not sent to an OutMonkey server.
What if a tool needs a server?
We tell you before it is sent.
If a tool needs hosted processing, the page should make that clear before processing starts so you can decide whether to continue.
What about AI tools?
It depends on the model.
Local models stay on your device where supported. If a tool uses a hosted model, that should be identified before your file is processed.
What is inside a saved monkey URL?
The recipe, not your files.
The link contains the workflow name, tool names and their order. It can be opened in another browser, but your files are never embedded in that URL.
How can one tool pass a result to the next?
Through that browser | not our server.
Where a compatible hand-off is available, OutMonkey keeps a temporary working copy in this browser’s site storage. It stays on that device, can be replaced by the next result, and is removed when you clear the site’s browser data.
Retention
Temporary should mean temporary.
If a tool uses temporary server processing, its handling notice should say what is sent, why it is needed, how long it is kept and when it is deleted.
Sensitive files
Some files deserve extra caution.
For identity documents, medical records, financial records or confidential business files, prefer local-processing tools where possible and read the handling notice before using anything hosted.
A real OutMonkey example
The photo-email tool works in your browser.
It resizes and compresses the image locally in the browser. The source photo is not uploaded to an OutMonkey server for that job.
If anything changes
We’ll say so.
If a tool introduces a different processing method, storage provider or retention requirement, the handling information should be updated with it.
