Tip: this measures image detail, not artistic quality. Motion blur, missed focus and camera shake usually score low, but portraits with smooth backgrounds can look softer than they really are.

What the blur score can tell you

The tool looks at fine edge detail across each image. Camera shake, missed focus and motion blur often reduce that detail, so genuinely soft frames tend to fall toward the bottom of the score range.

What it cannot tell you

A technically soft image can still be the best photograph. Portraits with smooth backgrounds, intentional motion, fog, shallow depth of field and heavily compressed images can all score lower. Use the result as a fast culling aid, not an instruction to delete files.

Best way to use it

Start with the default cutoff, review anything marked borderline, then move the cutoff only if your batch is consistently sharper or softer than average. Keep originals until you have made the final selection yourself.

What can I use?

JPG, PNG and WebP are the safest choices. Other image formats work when your browser can decode them.

Is there a size limit?

There is no extra OutMonkey upload-size cap in the browser interface. Very high-resolution images can still hit your browser or device memory limit, especially when enlarging them or running local models.

If the file is huge

If an enormous image will not process, use a smaller copy or reduce its pixel dimensions first. Keep the original untouched.
