Extract audio.

Pull the playable soundtrack out of a video and save it as a separate audio file.

Useful to know

Four things worth knowing.

What it is

The export is a bundle of choices.

When the video is only carrying the sound you actually need, whether that is an interview, voice note, screen recording, music clip or soundtrack, and you want that audio as its own file.

Where it stops

Exporting is not mastering.

Extraction separates the soundtrack; it does not clean noise, remove voices, remix music or improve the recording itself.

Play the whole thing.

Listen to the exported audio once before deleting or sending the source. Make sure the full section you wanted is there and nothing has been cut off.

Match the destination.

Choose the next format for the next job: MP3 is handy for sharing and playback; WAV is a better working copy when you plan to edit the audio again.
