Website & SEO

Check whether your sitemap is actually useful.

Open an XML sitemap, confirm the root type, count listed locations and spot-check the URLs it contains.

Free to run. No account. Public URL checks are fetched only to return the result.

Free · no sign-up · public URLs only · nothing is added to an account.

The annoying bit

You gave Google a map. It helps if the map actually opens.

Sitemaps fail in boring ways: an HTML error page at the XML URL, the wrong root element, old domains or thousands of URLs you stopped caring about months ago.

Worth knowing

A sitemap helps discovery; it does not force indexing.

Keep canonical, indexable URLs in the sitemap. Removing junk and obsolete URLs makes the file a cleaner statement of what you actually want crawled.

Next little job

Need a different website check?

Titles, redirects, canonicals, robots, sitemaps and schema all live in the same focused category.
