The annoying bit

You told Google which page is the real one. Hopefully you told it the right one.

Canonicals are invisible until they are wrong. A copied template or old domain can quietly point an otherwise healthy page somewhere else.

Worth knowing

A canonical is a strong hint, not a redirect.

For a normal unique page, a clean self-referencing canonical is usually easiest to maintain. Use cross-page canonicals deliberately.

Next little job

Need a different website check?

Titles, redirects, canonicals, robots, sitemaps and schema all live in the same focused category.
