Why is my PDF too big to upload?

Because the upload box has a size limit, and PDFs are very good at quietly collecting heavy images, scans and embedded assets.

Most oversized PDFs are not broken. They simply contain more image data than the form, portal or email attachment allows. Scanned pages are a common culprit because each page can effectively be a large photo.

Compressing images inside the PDF usually gives the biggest reduction.
Scanned PDFs can shrink dramatically without changing the page count.
Keep an eye on readability if the document contains small text or signatures.
